Meet the Governors

Roz Hayes March 2023

Mrs Roz Hayes (Chair)

I joined the Governing Body in 2018 as a Foundation Governor & I regularly attend church. My daughter attends our school and from both listening to her and from volunteering within the school I know our school is a wonderful place for our children to learn and grow both academically and emotionally. I feel privileged that I am a part of Woolston C of E Primary School.

I joined Woolston CE's governing body in 2023 as a local authority governor. Since 2017, I have worked as a primary school teacher in Warrington, in both community and Church of England primary schools. I am so pleased to be a member of this lovely school community.

I am a Foundation Governor on behalf of Church of the Ascension, and I joined the governing body in 2016.

In addition, my daughter attends Woolston CE Primary, and she has flourished during her school years.

I have worked for a local accountancy firm for the last 24 years, and I am pleased to be a part of the schools vision and journey.

Hazel Fryman(1)

Mrs Hazel Fryman

I was pleased to be co-opted onto the Governing Body in 2020.  I have worked in education for the past 24 years in primary schools in Cheshire and Warrington and I retired in summer 2020 from the post of Headteacher at Stretton St Matthew’s CE Primary School.  I now work part time as a School Improvement Adviser for Halton Borough Council and I feel privileged to be able to work, alongside other governors, for children and staff of Woolston CE.

Chris Roach

Mr Chris Roach

I have 2 children at the school and joined the Governing Body as a Parent Governor in 2024. I attended the school as a child and I am now a Chartered Mechanical Engineer working in the public sector.

I'm pleased to be involved with helping the school to continue to provide a high standard of education.

Jenny Leach

Ms Jenny Leach

I am Jenny Leach, Foundation Governor on behalf of Church of the Ascension, Woolston. My daughter has attended the school for 7 years and loved her experience. I am a Chartered Financial Planner working as Practice Manager for a local financial Adviser Practice in Warrington, Bright Wealth Management.

Kerry McLaughlin

Mrs Kerry McLaughlin

I am a Foundation Governor on behalf of Church of Ascension and attend worship at Life Church Warrington.  I joined the governing body earlier this year. I have 2 children, Grace and Caleb.  Caleb attends Woolston CE Primary and previously I have supported the PTA with events.  I feel privileged to be able to support the school by being on the governing body – from my own child’s experiences, listening to other parents feedback and Ofsted reports, it is evident that Woolston CE Primary is a thriving school. I work full time as a Chartered Human Resources Specialist within the Civil Service.  In my spare time I enjoy shopping with Grace and watching Caleb play football.  We have recently purchased a kayak – its taking some time to learn!

Lesley-Ann Shorrock(1)

Mrs Lesley-Ann Shorrock

I became a parent governor at Woolston CE 13 years ago, when my son first started in Reception. My daughter followed 2 years later and they both had an enjoyable and successful time there. The school gave them a good foundation both as individuals and academically.   During my time it’s been a pleasure to witness and work alongside very dedicated staff, who ensure the children receive the best possible education by providing a safe, caring, supportive and effective environment with many wonderful, memorable opportunities and exciting experiences.  Having worked in education for the past 22 years I am passionate about striving for excellence, I share Woolston CE’s vision that all children are individuals and should be supported and encouraged to develop not only on an academic level but also on a social, emotional and spiritual level. I believe that will equip them well for their adult lives and future. Moving to Woolston at the age of 4, being part of the community and attending the Church of the Ascension growing up and being involved in teaching young children, being highly committed and having high expectations is at the heart of everything I do.

Spencer Pritchard

Mr Spencer Pritchard

I have joined the Governing Body in 2024 as a Parent Governor. My wife and I moved to the area roughly ten years ago, following which our son joined the school at the start of reception and is now in year 3. The role of parent governor is important to me as an opportunity to positively contribute to the ongoing running of the school, recognising the positive impact the school has had on our son and the important role it has within our community. I work as civil engineer, more specifically as a highway and traffic management engineer and have done so for over 20 years.

Anthony Taylor

Mr Anthony Taylor

I joined the Governing Body as a Foundation Governor in 2024. I have been resident in Woolston for 35 years, and have been a member of the Church of Ascension congregation over that time. I currently teach IT in Further Education (10 years), delivering IT apprenticeship programmes, having spent 18 years in the IT industry, and I was a MFL teacher prior to that. Both my children and grandchildren attended the school: I am therefore pleased to have the opportunity to represent the Church at a fantastic School with which I have a long association.
