Meet the Governors

Roz Jones

Mrs Roz Hayes (Chair)

I joined the Governing Body in 2018 as a Foundation Governor & I regularly attend church. I volunteer weekly, both at our school to assist the teaching staff and children and also at a charity called Home Start who help vulnerable families in Warrington. I am also an active member of our PTA. I have one child in our school and from both her and from volunteering within the school I know our school is a wonderful place for our children to learn and grow. I feel privileged that I am a part of Woolston C of E Primary School.

I have a daughter who attends Woolston C of E and we both love the school and the community. In our spare time we love, play and laugh a lot. I have spent most of my career working for a local accountancy firm and I have been a Foundation Governor since 2016. My aim is to help deliver the best education in an inclusive, safe and fun environment. I truly believe in the vision of Woolston C of E and I’m excited to be part of that journey.

Mrs Hazel Fryman

I was pleased to be co-opted onto the Governing Body in 2020.  I have worked in education for the past 24 years in primary schools in Cheshire and Warrington and I retired in summer 2020 from the post of Headteacher at Stretton St Matthew’s CE Primary School.  I now work part time as a School Improvement Adviser for Halton Borough Council and I feel privileged to be able to work, alongside other governors, for children and staff of Woolston CE.

Alan Gough

Mr Alan Gough

I have lived in Epping Drive since 1970 and know the school and the area very well. I first joined the Governing Body in the 1980’s as an elected parent governor when my two children attended this school and spent 4 years in that post. I was also a member of the PTA.  In 2002, following my early retirement from work, I was reappointed as a Foundation Governor and have served in that capacity ever since. I was Chair of Governors from 2004 until 2018 and worked with four different headteachers during that time. I am currently Chair of the Personnel Committee and also have responsibility for coordinating governor training and development.

Peter Jackson

Mr Peter Jackson

I have been a Parent governor since 2015, and was elected for a second term in 2019, with both my children currently at Woolston CE Primary. My background is in education, and I have taught in Secondary schools and Sixth Form Colleges for over 25 years, so it is great to bring some of my experience to supporting the excellent work done at school to help our children develop and succeed.

Miss Kate Pritchard

I have recently joined the governing body and am excited to contribute further to Woolston C.E Primary School. I am extremely honoured to be able to work at this school with an incredible bunch of staff and pupils who work together as a family in the light of Jesus. I currently teach in Reception and am subject lead for computing.

Lesley-Ann Shorrock(1)

Mrs Lesley-Ann Shorrock

I became a parent governor at Woolston CE 13 years ago, when my son first started in Reception. My daughter followed 2 years later and they both had an enjoyable and successful time there. The school gave them a good foundation both as individuals and academically.   During my time it’s been a pleasure to witness and work alongside very dedicated staff, who ensure the children receive the best possible education by providing a safe, caring, supportive and effective environment with many wonderful, memorable opportunities and exciting experiences.  Having worked in education for the past 22 years I am passionate about striving for excellence, I share Woolston CE’s vision that all children are individuals and should be supported and encouraged to develop not only on an academic level but also on a social, emotional and spiritual level. I believe that will equip them well for their adult lives and future. Moving to Woolston at the age of 4, being part of the community and attending the Church of the Ascension growing up and being involved in teaching young children, being highly committed and having high expectations is at the heart of everything I do.
